5 Tasks to Outsource to a Virtual Assistant in 2024

5 Tasks to Outsource to a Virtual Assistant in 2024 Business tips

Are you hiring a virtual assistant this year? Working with a virtual assistant (VA) is a smart way to free up your time and offload the tasks that are outside of your zone of genius. That creates space for you to focus on what only you can do!

One of the biggest questions small business owners have when it comes to working with a virtual assistant is what tasks should I outsource to them? While this answer heavily depends on what you do, your business structure, and which tasks you enjoy the most, here are 5 tasks you can consider outsourcing to your VA.

Virtual Assistant Tasks to Outsource

1. SEO (search engine optimization)

As a web designer and SEO consultant, of course I have to include this on the list! Implementing SEO strategies on your website is crucial if you want to show up on search engines for your ideal clients. However, SEO takes time to learn and implement, and your time might be better spend elsewhere.

If they don't already know, have your VA learn the basics of SEO. Here's a link you can send them to sign up for my free 5-day SEO challenge, where I'll teach them the fundamentals of SEO! Once they have the foundations down, they can work page-by-page through your site to optimize it.

2. Blogging

One of the key components of SEO is consistent blogging. If you'd like to start showing up on search engines but aren't putting frequent, relevant content up on your site, it's going to be very difficult.

Blogging is another task you can outsource to your VA, whether they help you research strategic blog topics and write your outlines, or they can take over the blogging altogether. If they manage your blogging and SEO, you'll get the most bang for your buck.

3. Administrative Work

Administrative work is essential for every business, but you may not be the one who has to complete it. Admin tasks include Inbox management, customer service, client communication, scheduling, invoicing, and more depending on your business.

Automate the admin work that you can through services like Honeybook or Zapier, and whatever you can't (like responding to emails) can be outsourced to a VA.

4. Social Media Management

Do you find it takes you hours to edit and post a reel on Instagram? Or perhaps you just don't like being on social media all the time, and you'd rather hire someone to come in and manage your accounts for you. Social media management is another popular task to outsource to a VA!

Your virtual assistant can track your analytics, research and brainstorm content ideas, create graphics, edit reels, write captions, and post for you. Social media is a specialized skill, so make sure your VA has the background knowledge and creativity for it (and that they like it, too!).

5. Email Marketing

Nurturing relationships via email with your audience is an important component of marketing. If that isn't something that interests you, hand it off to your VA!

Flodesk is the email marketing platform that I use and recommend. It's simple, beautiful, and there are many customizable landing pages and templates you can choose from. Flodesk also has a robust help center and educational videos in a section called Flodesk University, so your VA will have plenty of support as they take over your email marketing.
